Play in the Summer

I had a date with the H sisters! I did a little pre-hang uke practice before they showed up.

I like to sit right here, looking out my window - and play "Happy Birthday"...the only song I know by heart, right now. Good thing my mom's birthday is tomorrow!

Micaela!

Maura!

Pandas!

By the way, we were hanging out for lovely Sonia's birthday!

We went to Lime. They claim that a person needs just one margarita. Maura and I had two.

This little adorable person was there too!

We ate edamame with our "The Works" platter. I didn't get it, but it was still delicious!

I dubbed our waiter Gyllenhall-ish. Which pretty much means he was gorgeous!

After the celebrations, we walked back to my place and did some after dinner cartwheels.

That's what you're supposed to do!

In the sweet, damp grass...

Point your toes, throw your hands in the air...

And just let it go!
Happy Birthday Sonia!

Girl and the Sea

We went to see the Presets last night at the Larimer Lounge.

I had never been to show like this before...it was thrilling!

Spencer made me photograph this adorable little tattooed waif with the green hat. He was sort of a dream machine.

The energy in this room, at this show, vibing off these people was so powerful. Smiling, dancing...

While this was happening behind me...

This was happening in front of me!

I'll admit - even I busted a move. It was infectious!

Keep on moving, babies!

NEXT LEVEL.

And they carried on like long division...

Baby Spencer is back in town.
SIGH - I've needed his sweet face and lethal style of humor!

He indulged me while I photographed this violent cupcake graffitti.
P.S. The camera is in perfect working order now!

I had the chai, he had the iced coffee, and we shared a cookie on a lovely Friday night.

I feel rested - up for something, anything...
I've opened my door to adventure!

Schools Out For Summer!

So, the old Nikon COOLPIX L18 - Ruby is back in action.

Practice your poses, babies!

I'm back on the scene...

There's Dust in All Their Hearts

Last night, Darling Meg, her friend Victor, and I all headed down to the Gothic Theater to see She Wants Revenge. We missed The Virgins and The Switches - for some reason, I'm not meant to see The Switches! When they were here with The Bravery, I missed them then too!
Still, I got to see Be Your Own Pet - and holy hannah, they were pretty fantastic!

She Wants Revenge were amazing as well! Meg and I drooled gratuitously over their guitar player and both of us reveled in their Psychedelic Furs cover of "Love My Way".

When it was over, we stepped out to a down pour of rain and it suited us just fine...

Put them all together it spells MOTHER!

That lady on the left - that lady is my mom!
That lady on the left is the woman that has gently guided me to be the person that I am today.
She encouraged me to play piano and flute and didn't act too disappointed when I ditched them for MTV and dress up.
That mom right there hugs me and tells me that she loves me often.
She is the best tickle scratcher EVER.
She makes the best potato soup and mashed potatoes and gravy.
My mom loves a little Bailey's Irish Cream in her coffee on weekends and loves to listen to Tchaikovsky while cleaning house.
My mom puts flowers on our family member's graves every Memorial day, she brushes the hair out of my face, and is truly the most inclusive person that I know!
She cracks people up and laughs a lot.
And I'm proud of the person that she is and what she has achieved in her life. She is an amazing representation of what a mother should be and if you ever needed mom...she would swoop right in and hug your face and make you feel like family.

She is my family and I am eternally grateful for fate bringing us together!
I'm a lucky kid.

LOVE YOU MAMOO!

(The woman to the right is Jan - a family friend, mother, collector, and fellow hilarious person!)

I'm Working, but I'm Not Working for You...

King Rat played The Fillmore last night with Pennywise! I'm so proud of them!

On the walk over, Micaela and I found these glasses kindly hung on the fence with the owner's name.
Distance and my camera's propensity for being a piece of garbage renders most of the photos weird and liney, but bear with me...
Here's Ant blowin' minds!

Mike and Luke tearing it up!

Mike shredding!

Because I couldn't get close enough to get a good one of Doug - here's one of him being adorable!

DELILLIS!
Jake and Jess showed up!

Jess is one of my new favorite hilarious people! She said I could be part of her summertime bike gang!

Micaela knows how to party.

There was A LOT of love rolling around!

I'm terrible at taking these kinds of self portraits...Still, I think we're pretty cute!

The young punk rockers of today! They give me hope!

Post show green room hang outs! Luke totally doing what Luke does best.

We're a family here in Denver. A messy, dysfunctional, loving, rockin' good time family...

I love my family!

I Can Go With the Flow...

Who's called Virgil anymore?

Alright, so the gang got together to hit Rock Band HARD!

Mike is a natural born front man!

He KILLED the Boston song!

Things do get kind of serious! By the way, these are some of my favorite babies, ever!

Doug usually rips it up on drums for King Rat, but check him here shredding...

Micaela was brave enough to play the skins! Steph and I know our limitations!

This IS my dream band!

Check out Steph's rock pose! Chris is spinning the sticks!

To top the weekend off, the Cinco de Mayo celebrations were just getting started!

We couldn't help but drink a Tecate and join the fun!

The spirit in the streets was unbelievable...

Celebratory and community focused!

And all my dreams came true! I met a burrito!

If you have a chance to go out and honor the traditions of others - you should do it!

Check out these totally amazing cowboy boots!

If this isn't tough, I don't know what is...

We clapped and danced and cheered. I got a wicked sunburn. I learned I love this city!
P.S. If you want to check out some hilarious Rock Band footage with both Chris and I singing...wander over here! http://youtube.com/user/NePlusUltra23
